Back to School American Made Sock Deal!

photo (29)A dear teacher friend told me about a sock sale at The Renfro Corporation of Cleveland Tennessee.  This company manufacturers socks under such brand names as carhart, Dr. Sholl’s, Fruit of the Loom, etc. and is currently having great discounts on socks of all sizes, types and colors.

Mr. Picky and I were able to buy for ourselves, and get a head start on Christmas gifts.  While they do not allow publicizing of particular name brands, the socks we bought for three dollars I saw on the REI website for between eleven and twenty dollars.

When I retire….or sooner!

Hope everyone had a safe and memorable 4th of July.  Mr. Picky and I were lucky enough to visit some dear family in Ellijay, Georgia at the Coosawattee River Resort.  I fell absolutely in love with the property, and if I ever win the lottery, our second home will be there.

While Ellijay is “far” off the beaten path, this property has amazing amenities: pool, tennis, fishing, you name it, but what I found absolutely charming was “Pickin on the Porch” at The General Store of Ellijay.   This is the place wher you make arrangements to go tubing, eat a great meal, get groceries, buy lovely souvenirs make by local residents, but best of all is  photo (18) the regular outdoor music.

It is a GREAT event for families; people brought chairs, picnic baskets, coolers, dogs 😉 etc.  How was your 4th of July?  Any particular special events you’d like to share?  Please comment below – I’d love to hear from you!

Eat Like a Local for Less!

Mr. Picky and I prefer simple dining over fine dining.  While we’ve never tried any of these restaurants, they come highly recommended as having a simple building, but outstanding food.  We are planning a trip in a few weeks, and hope to try at least one of them.
